FAQ Rehearsal Information
Welcome to the Youth Orchestra Program of St. Norbert College! Below are some things you need to know to help make your first rehearsal run smoothly!
WHERE ARE REHEARSALS? The vast majority of rehearsals will take place in the Abbot Pennings Hall Of Fine Arts (the music building where you may also have attended musicals or plays) on the St. Norbert Campus. The address is 315 Third Street, De Pere. This is building #20 on the campus map: http://www.snc.edu/about/docs/campusmap.pdf WHAT TIME ARE REHEARSALS? String Orchestra: 12:30 - 1:30 Philharmonia: 1:45- 3:15 Youth Symphony: 3:30 - 5:45 2021-22 Rehearsal Calendar: youthorchestra.weebly.com/2021-22-rehearsal-calendar.html WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS REHEARSAL? If you need to miss rehearsal, you are expected to email your conductor as soon as possible. DROP OFF If you are dropping your child off, please drop off at the 2 designated drop off zones on 3rd Street in front of the Hall of Fine Arts (building #20 - by the big St. Norbert arch). If you are not dropping off but entering the building with your child, see the parking information below. CHECKING IN Students should walk through the Baer Mall (under the St. Norbert arch) and enter the East doors of the Building for what is labeled #20A. This is the Walter Theater Lobby entrance. Students should go directly to the Walter Theatre, and attendance will be taken by the conductor when the rehearsal starts. PICK UP Pick up may also happen on 3rd street. Please have a pick-up plan with your child so there is no confusion. PARKING You may park at any time in the lots marked P14 and P11 (Visitor Parking) which are both located across the street from the Music Building (Hall of Fine Arts) behind the Ariens Family Welcome Center. On weekends you may also park in lot P4 if available (behind the library). Occasionally on busy days 1 or 2 of the ensembles may rehearse in adjacent buildings #21 (Todd Wehr Hall) or #18 Michels Commons. We would ask all students to enter the Fine Arts Building as usual and they will be directed where to go for rehearsals. These buildings are both less than 1 minute from the music building and require no crossing of streets. Building #21 is connected through a hallway to the music building. WHAT TO BRING All students need to bring their own music stand, music, and pencil to each rehearsal. Also, many students will need reminders on Friday to bring their instruments home. Please help your child remember this, as schools are closed on Sundays. COFFEE & WiFi Building #29, conveniently located across the street from the Music Building, is the St. Norbert Library. It has a very nice coffee shop, WiFi, and is open to all! Other amenities are available on campus. There are also lots of places right in downtown De Pere for lunch, coffee or shopping. EMERGENCY NUMBER The emergency number for Sundays is 920-403-3299. This is the number for Campus Safety. This is the quickest way to find or communicate with your child (if you cannot get in direct contact for some reason). |
